About This Program

The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Upon successful completion, students earn a DPD verification statement allowing them to compete for graduate student and dietetic internships, the required next steps to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

Registered Dietitian Nutritionists are employed in health care facilities, government and public health agencies, food companies, schools and universities, private practice, and a variety of other settings. Opportunities are also increasing for RDNs in wellness and fitness programs and in sales and marketing for business and industry. Students should obtain volunteer or work experience with an RDN, participate in leadership opportunities with student organizations in the FSHN Department and participate in Dietetic related professional organizations.
